I am a vascular neurologist by training. Medicine was my calling. I graduated from Marshall University School of Medicine in 2000, but mosaic art is my passion. I started doing mosaics in 2000 after graduating medical school. Art gives me an outlet. It allows me to take the stress and pain of the day and express it in a very relaxing healthy way.
My mosaics are all original designs. Hand made from stained glass, vitreous tiles, mirror, beads, broken dishes, basically anything I can break to create shape and texture. Each piece is hand cut and placed with care. I started working in mosaics with basic mirrors and photo frames, dishes, but now my joy is in creating large wall hangings that light up a room.
I like to make beautiful things. I am inspired by glass. The richness of color, the way that glass reflects light and the textures you can create bring me much joy. I love working with ancient techniques to make contemporary pieces. I love the way mosaics marry shape and line.
